"Body in Space" was selected to be presented at The Forty-Fifth Annual Honors Day Colloquium at Marymount Manhattan College in 2022 on the Past/Present/Future Panel. Evelyn Dugan was sponsored by her Composition professor, Luke Miller. "Body in Space" are left to live in the assumptions of the other people in that space. I wanted to experiment with basic movement that could be conceptually understood through the universal tool of body language, and invite the viewer to interpret my being through that movement. Body in Space, was created based on experimental phrase work that highlighted the 7 dynamics of energy under the elements of choreography. This video project was also inspired by the site specific work of Noemi LaFrance, a canadian dancer/choreographer. My chosen location was Roosevelt Island. I found this unique angle on the south quarter of the Island that created a sort of symmetrical vanishing point for the eye using nature (the trees, grass, water) and the city as the frame, without any other human bodies in the frame. After watching the film, I want to take this opportunity to ask you all what you saw.
